New Year

The end of a year, advent of another

The loss of a dad after the loss of a mother

I’ll get over the void if it takes me a lifetime

I’ll remember those gone with a glass of wine

A crowd of people with happy faces

Hugs of Happy New Year, embraces

I shouldn’t lower the tone

Or groan and moan

For I have no right

To drown others’ delight

End of a year, advent of another

In my ship, I’ll await the turn of the rudder
