IT SHOULD BE NOTED that the editor and the contributors decided unanimously to omit the typical section of endnotes in this volume as followed in the first two volumes, because of the overwhelming mass of available resources for the topics of discussion in each chapter. We have compiled a comprehensive list of archival, primary and other resources in the bibliography section for research purposes and for the convenience of the reader.
