1I use the terms “physical anthropology” and “biological anthropology” to refer to those researchers who are anthropologists who study human remains because of the way in which Larsen has appropriated the term “bioarchaeology.” Because I use the term bioarchaeology differently and more broadly [and more like the way in which Buikstra (1977) used the term], I feel the need to distinguish it here. I choose not to use the term osteology, as an osteologist may not necessarily be an anthropologist.
