K-Pg boundary: The event approximately 65 million years ago that ended the age of dinosaurs, commonly believed to have been brought about by a massive comet strike on earth and extreme climate change. Commonly referred to as the transition between the Cretaceous and Paleogene periods (or the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary).
Mesozoic era: Vast period of time from 250 to 65 million years ago. Broadly contains the era of the dinosaurs.
Morphology: The study of the design of a living creature.
Paleoart: The art of re-creating the creatures discovered in paleontology, whether traditional, digital or sculptural.
Paleobotany: A branch of paleontology studying prehistoric plant fossils.
Paleoecology: The scientific study of ancient environments through fossils and geology.

Pangaea: The name given to the super continent landmass that existed for 300 million years during the reign of dinosaurs. This super continent broke up into the modern continents we know today.
Permian period: Era approximately 300 to 250 million years ago directly preceding the Mesozoic Era of the dinosaurs.
Plesiosaurs: Group of marine dinosaurs.
Pterosaurs: Group of flying reptiles; cousins to the dinosaurs.

Sauropod: Group of large four-legged herbivore dinosaurs including apatosaurus, brachiosaurus and others. Name means “Lizard Footed.”
Theropods: Group of two-legged dinosaurs that included families such as Tyrannosauridae and Dromaeosauridae, and would later evolve into the birds. Name means “Beast Footed.”
Triassic period: Era existing from 250 to 200 million years ago containing the first species of dinosaurs.
