AN ALUMINUM SILICATE MINERAL, kyanite most often forms in long, blade-like structures. Its name comes from the Greek word for “dark blue,” kyanos, and its coloring is most often just that—hues of dark blue tempered by gray. However, green and colorless kyanite have also been found. It is sometimes found formed on quartz and is mined in Brazil, Switzerland, South Africa, Mexico, and North Carolina.

Metaphysical practitioners believe that blue kyanite has high vibrations, allowing for rapid transfers of energies and channels. It is thought to link realms and to awaken one’s full consciousness. It is also thought that placing kyanite under your pillow will give you dreams that are clear and wrought with richness. Though it is not associated with any particular month, it is linked to several zodiac signs including Libra and Taurus.
