Karl Schroeder’s (www.kschroeder.com) science fiction explores the blurred line between the natural and the artificial; forests and rivers are as likely as humans to be the heroes of his stories. He’s known for epic far-future novels, such as Permanence, Lockstep, Ventus, and Lady of Mazes, but lately has been writing about the climate crisis and the future of politics and economics. His latest novel, Stealing Worlds, is about a young woman turning the tables on her father’s murderers in 2030s Detroit. As well as writing science fiction, Karl works as a futurist; he has a master’s degree in Strategic Foresight, and pioneered a hybrid form of fiction/essayist storytelling that is designed to communicate foresight project findings. He lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and daughter, but has traveled the world giving keynotes and consulting. He’s currently writing about Venus.
