THE EIGHTH BIG LIE:
I must protect myself from “any more pain.”
The path of healing takes you through the depths
of your feelings, grief, forgiveness, and the
embracing of all of your life.
It might be a little embarrassing to ask someone to help
you get out of your comfort zone, but the world you are going
to live in is worth the risk—and so is the reward.
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of
power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Tim. 1:7 NIV).
“Be strong and of good courage . . . for the LORD
your
God. He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave
you nor forsake you” (Deut. 31:6 NKJV).
You can’t allow yourself to be healed if you are
holding back and trying to protect yourself from
what cannot be prevented—trials and sorrows.
“With God’s power working in us, God can do
much, much more than anything we can ask
or imagine” (Eph. 3:20 NCV).
“Cast all your anxiety on him because
he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7 NIV).
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not
give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be
troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27 NIV).
