1775	The first battle of the Revolutionary War was fought at Lexington, Massachusetts.
1775–1777	John Hancock was President of the Second Continental Congress.
1776	John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence.
1777–1783	John became a political leader and Governor of Massachusetts.
1783	Peace treaty with England was signed, ending the Revolutionary War.
1787	The Constitutional Convention met to frame the Constitution the United States.
1793	John Hancock died on October 8. There were 13 states in the Union. George Washington was President.
