House Burger

THIS IS YOUR BASIC BURGER DONE REALLY WELL. MELTED BUTTER COATS THE

HAMBURGER BUN, WHILE LETTUCE, TOMATO, AND PICKLES PROVIDE FLAVOR AND

TEXTURE. AND THEN, OF COURSE, THERE’S THE SIZZLING HOT, JUICY BEEF MAKING

THIS THE PERFECT SANDWICH.

4 ounces ground beef or chuck

1 / 2 teaspoon kosher salt 1 / 4 teaspoon pepper 1 hamburger bun, split in half

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons mayonnaise

3 dill pickle chips

1 tablespoon diced sweet onion

1 / 4 cup chopped green leaf lettuce 2 thick slices tomato

1. Shape the ground beef into a patty. Wrap it in plastic and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before using.

2. Light a charcoal barbecue or heat a gas grill to medium. Clean the grate and coat it with vegetable oil.

3. Season the patty with the salt and pepper. Grill 3 to 4 minutes per side, turning once, or until cooked to your preferred doneness.

4. Brush both sides of the bun with the melted butter. Grill both halves until lightly toasted, taking care to not burn the bread.

5. To build your burger, spread the mayonnaise over the bottom bun and arrange the pickle chips on the mayonnaise. Sprinkle with the diced onion over the pickle chips. Pack the lettuce over the onions and follow with the tomato slices.

6. Set the patty on top of the tomato and finish with the top half of the bun. Serve hot.
