FINISH YOUR DRAWING WITH A FELT-TIP MARKER

With a medium-thick felt-tip marker, you can create nuanced lines that are either thick or thin, depending on how hard you press. A tool like this makes it easy to highlight small details and darken certain areas.

Redraw the outer edges of your rodent and add small zigzag patterns to bring out the texture of its coat.

After erasing some of your original pencil lines, add a few more details.

Cover the body with fine lines, making sure to leave some white areas to keep the fur light. The groundhog here has a relatively thick coat.

The more you darken certain parts, the more you bring out the shape and depth of the groundhog’s body. Just don’t go overboard with the shading, or you might weigh down your drawing!
