2 Peter

Introduction:

Peter wrote this second letter about AD 66 to Christians he had written to earlier. They were living in the northern part of Asia Minor. These Christians were no longer being persecuted but were now in danger of being confused by false teachers.

Peter reminds the Christians that the best way to resist false teachers is to grow in the knowledge and practice of the Christian faith. He assures them that God will destroy the false teachers. Because Jesus will certainly keep his promise to come again, Peter reminds these Christians to live “holy and godly lives” (3:11).
