Chapter 4: Meats and Other Proteins

When you haven’t had very much to eat all day, dinner definitely takes on a whole new urgency! After being good and fasting since breakfast, you really want to have something more to look forward to than a handful of carrot sticks and celery stalks and a tall glass of water. Hopefully this chapter will give you the inspiration you need to get through the day!

The great thing about doing the 5:2 Fast Diet is that as long as you stay within your calorie range (remember, 600 calories for men and 500 calories for women), you’re free to eat what you want. Remember, to feel satisfied and full it’s important to take in calories that are full of nutrients.

You don’t need to eschew steak or pork on the 5:2 Fast Diet. You don’t need to say goodbye to savory sauces and creams. What you do need to do is to eat within portion parameters that are measured and reasonable, and to use ingredients in cooking that save you calories where it doesn’t matter so you can really enjoy indulging in extra calories where it does.
