Here we mix the classic bagel toppings into a spread.

tablespoons capers, rinsed |

tablespoon minced fresh dill |

tablespoons milk |
Microwave cream cheese on high power until very soft, 20 to 30 seconds. Stir smoked salmon, onion, capers, dill, and milk into softened cheese. Allow spread to chill for 1 hour before serving. The prepared spread will keep, covered and refrigerated, for up to 1 week.
