Know your limits

‘You can’t hold up a friend when your own arm is broken.’ This is something my psychologist often says to me as a reminder to know my own limits. If you’re depleted or not in a good place, it’s hard to support someone else who’s struggling.

It’s OK to step back and take care of yourself. Think of it like the oxygen masks on an aeroplane. You have to make sure your own mask is secure first, before you can assist those around you. Practise setting boundaries and putting yourself first.
