Anger burns

How often do you feel better when you scream at the driver who cut you off in traffic or belittle the call-centre operator who can’t answer your questions? That temporary release of pressure usually comes back to bite you.

Anger is corrosive. When you pick up a hot coal to throw at someone, you only end up with burnt hands. Before responding to a situation or person you feel has wronged you, take five deep breaths and pause. Imagine how you’ll feel if you lash out. Could you try a different way?
