Papa Walt is my husband’s grandfather on his mother’s side. From the first moment we met, I knew he was special. He’s feisty, full of quick wit and the best stories, and he’s one of the sweetest men you’ll ever meet. Since I’d lost both of my grandfathers, I quickly claimed him as my own.
He grew up in the town of Ely, Nevada, then moved to Reno when he married his beautiful bride, Joyce, who was given the recipe for Nevada Nuggets by a dear neighbor. Since then, a few tweaks have been made to the recipe, but to this day, it remains Papa Walt’s favorite dessert. And considering his notorious sweet tooth, that’s saying something!
It’s with great pleasure that I now share it with you.
