Adding Decimals

Place Value Columns

Decimals are added by adding only digits with the same place value.

Add 0.13 and 0.62.

Step 1: Write the numbers in a column. Line up the decimal points. When the decimal points are lined up, the place values are also lined up.

Step 2: Add the hundredths. Add the tenths.

Step 3: Write the decimal point in the answer. Add the ones.
