THE MINUS-ONE CLUB: RULES

“I don’t need a support group, thanks,” Millie says, pushing the box away.

“Right now, this week?” Janna says. “You don’t know what you’ll need.”

Millie’s expression turns haughty. “And you do?” Her gaze flicks to me, as if to say, you putting up with this white nonsense?

“We’ve all been where you are, in our own ways.” I look at Matt. “And we’re still working through it.”

He picks up when I stop. “Sometimes you might want to be around people who know how messed up what you’re going through is.”

“Or maybe you won’t,” Simon adds. “Whatever. But for all of us, it helps.”

It’s the same box of note cards, but one of them is new. We revised it together after Matt’s crisis.
