Matt pulls into my driveway. “Sometimes Patrick and I get together and hang out on the weekends,” he says. “Or Simon and I. You know, as guys.”
“Okay.”
“So you and I can do that sometimes. If you want to.”
If? “Yeah, okay.”
“Yeah?” He taps his thumb on the wheel and nods. “Great. I’ll text you and let you know what’s up. This weekend?”
“Sure.” I hop out of the car.
“Laser tag?” he calls through the open window.
“Naturally.” I toss it over my shoulder, playing it casual as I head up the walk. Can’t let him see the size of my smile.
