India beat Australia in that T20 match. Rahul Bedi scored a century after a long, long time. And he was the man of the match.
Antony and Elizabeth Pereira who were to give out the trophy to the winners had been arrested by the police and quietly taken away from the stadium, without creating a ruckus. As one of Solan’s most respected persons, Chief Walia was called on to give away the trophy.
However, when Rahul walked up to the podium to collect his trophy, he took everyone by surprise. He took the mike from the announcer and said, ‘Today if I am standing here and speaking to all of you as a winning captain, it is because of three wonderful people from Solan. These three are part of the famous SMS Detective Agency – Akriti, Aditya and Kabir. Both Rhea and I are indebted to the three of them for having reunited us with our family member. Please give them a standing ovation. Clap for them as if you are clapping for me and Rhea.’
‘Kabir, Aditya and Akriti, you guys are rock stars! Thank you for what you did today. Not just Solan, the whole country is proud of you,’ Rahul continued. And then he looked at Chief Walia and added, ‘Sir, with your permission, I would love to receive the trophy from these young stars. It would be a special moment for me.’ Chief Walia nodded his consent. He was only too pleased to comply.
The announcer then called for the three of them to come and hand over the trophy to Rahul. In a moment, the three young kids sprinted onto the ground and joined Chief Walia. They couldn’t control their glee when the cameras went berserk clicking the moment when they handed over the trophy to Rahul. Akriti even managed to get a selfie with Rahul for her Instagram page.
