A Note on Translation

With very few exceptions pertaining to “On the Sounds of Poetic Language,” the essays here gathered represent complete English versions of Yakubinsky’s Russian originals.

For the contemporary English reader’s convenience, I have omitted a very small number of passages from “On the sounds of Poetic Language” that reiterate, repeat or provide additional illustrations for points already made with sufficient clarity; that only work in Russian for prosodic, phonological, or morphological reasons, and whose absence does not in any way detract from Yakubinsky’s argument, substantively or otherwise.

All translations from French are my own.
