Sarah answered the phone with high anxiety. She relaxed upon hearing her daughter’s voice. She looked at Samuel and nodded.
“Anyone from this number call for a pizza? I can’t find your address. It’s getting cold.”
“You have two pizzas, right? We ordered two.”
Samuel smiled as he listened to his wife’s side of the conversation. His smile grew larger when he observed her relieved look at the answer she’d received.
“Yes. I have two pizzas. Can you give me directions to your house?”
“Perhaps we can just meet you. It will save time. Where are you now?”
Sarah frowned when she heard the answer. Samuel tensed.
“That’s on the other side of town. How’d you manage to get so lost? It will take us some time to get there or for you to get here. The pizza will be ruined by then. Just forget it. We don’t want it. Don’t worry though, we’ve already paid for it. Your employer won’t be mad if you just dump it.”
Sarah hung up and looked at her husband. “They’re in the clearing. Neither have a car.”
“That should be an interesting story,” he commented. “Let’s go get them.”
Sarah nodded. “Let me call Sam first and tell him mission complete. He’ll round everyone up.”
Samuel grunted as he gathered the car keys and grabbed a small pack that contained water and snacks. He waited for Sarah to complete her call. As she turned to follow him out the door, she repeated what Sam had told her.
“I’m really looking forward to this debriefing,” he laughed.
“Me, too.”
