Sarah was getting worried. As far as she could tell, the girls had yet to engage with the target. She’d received reports from all her players. No one had seen the girls in any of the places she’d expected.

“Damn! I should have asked them to tell me their plan,” she to the room at large.

She called Samuel and updated him.

“Do you think they’re all right?” he asked, concern lacing his voice.

“Yes. No. I don’t know. So far, no one has spotted them. Everyone is waiting around for the scenario to begin. They’re getting frustrated. I’m getting frustrated. I should have asked them to share their basic plan.”

“No. You did the right thing by letting them plan and execute on their own. If you’d heard their plan, you would have tried to tweak it.”

Sarah laughed, releasing some of her tension. “You’re right, of course. It’s so much harder to let go of the girls. It was hard to let the boys go, and yet they turned out fine. But the girls. I hate to admit it. I thought I was not capable of having this attitude. Particularly considering what I went through. But, Samuel, they’re my girls.”

“I know, hon. I feel it too. Give it a bit more time. Who knows? This may be their plan. Waiting until everyone is fed up with them, then attacking.”

Sarah laughed again. “You could be right. They were always rather contrary.”

“You have a way to contact them, right? To call everything off?”

“Yes.”

“Then let the day play out. If it goes too late into the night, call them in.”

“What’s too late?”

“I don’t know. Ten or ten-thirty?”

Sarah sighed. She wasn’t sure she had it in her to wait that long. Particularly considering their close escape in the last city.

“I’ll do my best. But my brain is going crazy with potential scenarios. Bad scenarios.”

Samuel chuckled lightly. “I understand. But trust them. We’ve trained them well. Let’s see how they demonstrate that training.”

“I’ll keep you updated. Love you.”

“Love you, too.”

Sarah disconnected and stood. She couldn’t sit still. She began pacing as she called each player in the training mission she’d set up and told them to wait it out.
