Every town has one. The haunted house that inhabits the nightmares of every child. For the children of Riverdale, this house was Thornhill.
The Thornhill mansion was in the Blossom family for generations. Built by Claudius Blossom the first, the house sat on the far edge of town enshrouded by massive maple trees. If the Pembrooke is Riverdale’s Buckingham Palace, Thornhill was its Taj Mahal. The home’s backyard even included its own private graveyard, where countless members of the Blossom clan have been laid to rest.
After Jason’s murder and Clifford’s suicide, Cheryl Blossom took it upon herself to start anew. With a flick of her wrist, she lit Thornhill on fire, destroying her family home and sending her family’s past up in flames. Now all that remains of the grand mansion is the somehow perfectly kept pool in the backyard. Because of course it is!
Since then, the remaining members of the Blossom clan have taken up residency at Thistlehouse. We suppose that the stakes of burning down your mansion are considerably lower when you have an equally nice mansion available to move in to.
The original Blossom home, Thornhill, was filmed at the Copper Stone Mansion. While incredibly dark and moody-looking in the show, the actual mansion is bright and stunning and has a private tennis court and swimming pool. In the season three premiere, we get the pool party at Thornhill we’ve been waiting for.
