Oh dear. Dad woke up in a very bad mood – he looks like a very angry, very red Humpty Dumpty.
10.02 a.m.
Just discovered I got my period – it caught me by surprise because they still aren’t regular yet. (I read in my puberty book that apparently it can take a couple of years for them to even out.)
I had a bit of a panic because we still have a few days of holiday left and I wanted to go swimming.
Told Mum and she asked if I wanted to try using a tampon. I was worried as I’d only used pads before, but she said it’s totally safe at my age if I felt comfortable doing it.
I mean, I didn’t at first. I looked at the instructions and pictures and I freaked out. But Mum helped explain how they work so I’m about to give it a go. Wish me luck!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! You’ll be pleased to know Mission Tampon was a complete success.
Without going into details, it took a few goes to get it right, but once it was ahem ‘in the right place’ I couldn’t even feel it.
Looks like Cinderlottie is off to the swimming pool after all!
11.37 a.m.
By the pool, hoping to bump into Antoine.
Bailey is harassing me to go out with him, and Hailey is chasing Toby round the pool asking for a kiss. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look so scared!
12.34 p.m.
Toby just pulled some tampons out of my bag and goes, ‘HA HA – I’VE FOUND YOUR SWEETS! NOW YOU’VE GOT TO SHARE THEM!’
I just thought I’d sit back and let him find out what they were the hard way …
He ended up super confused so Mum took him to one side and gave him a fast-track introduction to periods and women’s sanitary products. He looked like he was about to cry when she was finished explaining what tampons were actually used for – it was hilarious!
3.25 p.m.
Antoine eventually turned up. We had a swim (the tampon worked fine and didn’t let me down – what a game changer!) and then I asked him if he was hungry by sort of rubbing my tummy and making an eating gesture. He said ‘Oui!’ so we walked back to our tent for lunch.
I wanted to showcase some of England’s finest cuisine, so I made him a Pot Noodle.
So relieved he liked it, as it would have been a total deal-breaker for me.
8.24 p.m.
Just realized Daniel’s necklace is missing! It must have come off in the pool earlier … I mean, I know it was probably only cheap, but he bought it for me to remember him by and now I feel really bad … both for losing it and, er, not doing a very good job of the ‘remembering him’ part.
