I’ve been spending the afternoon wondering what to wear tonight. I don’t have anything at all disco-ish so I’m going to have to go dead casual, which I’m kind of relieved about as I never feel that comfortable when I get all dressed up anyway.
I decided on trainers, denim shorts and a black vest top. I haven’t brought any make-up with me, but Mum let me borrow some of her mascara and perfume and I think I looked all right.
I’m nervous though. I really wish I had Jess and Poppy here to go with because I’ll feel pretty self-conscious about walking in there on my own.

So I arrived at the teen disco a bag of nerves. Bailey secretly followed me there and attempted to get in by speaking in a strange deep voice but unfortunately his height gave him away and Geraldine, who was working on the door, had to call his parents to come and collect him.
Part of me kind of wouldn’t have minded Bailey coming in with me because I couldn’t see Antoine anywhere and I felt super awkward. I went to the bar and ordered a lemonade, just for something to do. Because I was so nervous, I downed it really quickly and then I started feeling kinda drunk – sugar seems to have that effect on me.
Pete was DJing and he obviously saw me on my own because he announced over his mic: ‘And this one goes out to the one and only Lottie Brooks!’ and he started playing ‘Stay’ by Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI.
I LOVE that song and when I hear music I like, my body takes over. So, it wasn’t long before I was right in the middle of the dance floor using all my best moves.
Then suddenly from behind I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Antoine. I’d been so absorbed in my dancing that I hadn’t seen him come in and I wondered how long he’d been watching. The good thing was that he didn’t seem put off by it. In fact, he got on the floor and started breakdancing! It wasn’t long before the entire disco was gathered round us, clapping and cheering.
TBH this was an easier date than the chatty-chat walk because we let our limbs communicate through the music and it was SO MUCH FUN! I made sure I got a selfie too as I was desperate to show him off to the girls.
OOH and as we were on the way out I whispered to Geraldine that I thought Pete liked her. I think she smiled and blushed but it was a bit hard to see her face properly under the massive costume.

Fries Before Guys WhatsApp group:
ME: So … this is Antoine! We’ve just been to a disco!
POPPY: OOOOOH, you are right – he is hot!
JESS: Poppy, watch out – you are objectifying him …
POPPY: Oops, sorry. I mean, he looks like he has a nice personality.
JESS: Much better! Did you have a fun night, Lotts?
ME: Yeh, it was great. We did some pretty crazy dancing … but it made me miss you guys!
POPPY: Awww we miss you too. Can’t wait to see you when you get back!
JESS: Don’t forget it’s my birthday on Monday!
ME: As if I would! Have you decided what to do yet?
JESS: Looks like it’s going to be hot so how about going to the pier? My mum said she would get us unlimited passes for the rides?
ME: Woohoo! Sounds awesome!
POPPY: Can’t wait. xxx
