This spice mixture is perfect for your next South of the border meal. The Tex-Mex punch comes from the Mexican oregano. It has a more earthy and intense flavor than typical oregano that some have described as citrusy.
It’s also popular in Cuban cuisine.
¼ cup Homemade Chili Powder
(found in this chapter)
2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

In a medium bowl, combine Homemade Chili Powder, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes.
