The Authors

Seung Ho Park is the executive director of the Institute for Emerging Market Studies (IEMS) and the Chair Professor of Strategy at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. Prior to joining IEMS, he was the founding president of the Samsung Economic Research Institute in China, and the director of the Center for Emerging Market Strategy and BAT Chair Professor at the China Europe International Business School. He has also taught at several universities in the United States and Hong Kong, including Rutgers University, the University of Texas–Dallas, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the City University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on market competition and the sustained growth of local and multinational companies in emerging markets. He can be reached at spark@skolkovo.ru.

Nan Zhou is an assistant professor at SKOLKOVO Business School and a research fellow at IEMS. Her research addresses questions that intersect the fields of corporate strategy and international business, focusing primarily on understanding how strategic decisions such as product diversification and globalization are influenced by firm resources and institutional environments in the context of emerging markets. Gerardo R. Ungson is a Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow at IEMS and the Y. F. Chang Endowed Chair Professor of International Business at the College of Business, San Francisco State University. He is the coauthor of six books on various topics, including global strategy, management, and Korean management systems.
