“I still can’t get used to you wearing clothes,” Angel said as Ellis entered the library. “DeMarco, care to join us?” she called out to the older woman who was pretending to be interested in what her students were doing.
“Something on your mind?” DeMarco challenged as she approached.
“I need a favor.”
“Come on, Walt, you know we owe you,” Ellis said.
“That’s the truth,” DeMarco conceded. “I’m up for anything, except going toe to toe with Hollister.”
“I need a tablet and a Wi-Fi password.”
“Porn?” Ellis teased. “I knew it. You and your little friend are into kinky shit.”
“You’re funny.” Angel snorted indignantly. “I’m worried about Nana. I know there are games and puzzles that you can download that can help with memory issues. I’m not going to be here much longer. From the moment I walked into this hellhole, that old lady had my back. I’m hoping this might help keep her out of the county hospital.”
“Tell me again how this works.”
“What’s that now, Nana?”
“How I’m watching television on this little doohickey.”
“It’s called a tablet and don’t let the guards see it. You can do a lot with that thing, and you can do a whole lot of nothing. I thought you were working on those word games DeMarco downloaded for you.”
“I did. Now, I’m watching something called Hulu. There are all these people making dinner out of what they find in a basket. I can’t believe I’m watching television on something that’s smaller than a breadbox.”
“Do people really use those?”
“What’s that?”
“Breadboxes.”
“They should.” Nana snorted with delight. “You said you can send me messages on this when you get out.”
“It’s called email. Get Becks or Dockett to help you.”
“Thank you. For this and for doing the right thing by getting your ass out of here.”
