Special Stitches
The number in the st name is how many rows the st will be worked over (see photo 1).
Note: The first row is the row being worked.
Note: See the tip Lined Up.
See Waterfall Crochet Appendix & Tips for more details on sts.
Waterfall over 2 rows and into st (W2st); Waterfall over 3 rows and into st (W3st); Waterfall over 4 rows and into st (W4st); Waterfall over 5 rows and into st (W5st); Waterfall over 6 rows and into st (W6st): Working over number of rows indicated in st name and into corresponding st below, work the st per the steps below:
A. For first row yo,
B. for each rem row (insert hook in ch sp, yo twice, pull lps to front of work),
Note: each ch sp down to the st below will be worked in.
C. when indicated number of rows have been worked, insert hook in corresponding st, turn piece to view back of st,
Note: The st will be worked off the hook viewing the back of the st. This is because the yarn has been carried down the back of the work as lps have been added to the hook.
yo, pull lp through st, (yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook, yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook and ch sp) repeat until last ch sp has been worked off hook,
D. turn to view RS of work, (yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook) twice (see photos 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6).
Waterfall double crochet (Wdc): This is worked the same as working a dc into the ch sp (see photo 7). The instructions will say Wdc over next st. The corresponding ch sps (if applicable) and st below (see A on photo 7) are sk.
Waterfall over 2 rows and anchored in next ch sp (W2cs); Waterfall over 3 rows and anchored in next ch sp (W3cs); Waterfall over 4 rows and anchored in next ch sp (W4cs):
Working over number of rows indicated in st name and anchored in next ch sp, work the st per the steps below:
A. For first row, yo,
B. for each rem row, (insert hook in next ch sp, yo twice, pull lps to front of work),
Note: Only the number of rows indicated will be worked.
Example: W2cs will work the first row and the first ch sp; W4cs will work the first row and each of 3 ch sps down. The st will be “anchored” in the next ch sp, but that ch sp, any rem ch sps and the st below will be sk.
C. when indicated number of rows have been worked, insert hook in next ch sp, turn piece to view back of st, yo, pull lp into previous ch sp, (yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook, yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook and ch sp) repeat until last ch sp has been worked off hook,
D. turn to RS of piece, (yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook) twice. (see photos 8, 9 & 10)
Note: The instructions will say W#cs over next st. The corresponding ch sps (if applicable) and st below are sk.
