Project 1

Dishcloth

This is a great project with which to learn Waterfall crochet. Each row is worked in double crochet. The long chain spaces and space between stitches in this design give plenty of room for learning this technique.

Project 2

Hot Pad

This design works seven of the same size Waterfall crochet stitches in a row. The first stitch starts with plenty of room and then things are narrowed down to the seventh stitch, which has just enough room. This project is worked in double crochet except for the row with the Waterfall crochet stitches; those rows are worked in single crochet.

Project 3

3-Color Throw

This project introduces increasingly larger chain spaces and creates a look of overlapping colors. Each row is worked in double crochet. This project also introduces a “grouped” Special Stitch description, which is one set of instructions for the three Waterfall stitches used in this project.

Project 4

Table Runner

This design creates a ripple effect using increasingly longer chain spaces. It also uses a variety of Waterfall crochet stitches that work down to different depths. Some work all the way to the stitch below and some don’t. Every row is worked in double crochet.

Project 5

Plaid Throw

This project adds variety with each color being worked differently. The dark green color is worked in single crochet rows and with long Waterfall crochet stitches, giving a “pinstripe” effect. The white and lighter green colors are worked in double crochet rows but with “blocks” of different widths, making the lighter green the primary color of the project.

Project 6

Diagonal Baby Blanket

This pattern adds a whole new slant to the Waterfall crochet technique by adding in diagonal Waterfall crochet stitches in combination with the “straight” stitches. Waterfall Crochet Appendix & Tips has more details for the “straight” Waterfall crochet stitches and the technique in general. The Special Stitches section will instruct how to make the stitches in this project.

Another unique aspect of this project is that it is worked all in single crochet rows, which create framing for working on the diagonal.

Page 31: This section provides extra details on the Waterfall crochet technique. The significance of each element in the stitch name is described along with more details on how to work the stitch on and off the hook. Several tips on things like hook shaft size and lining up stitches are included to help in mastering this new technique.
