LEFT: The door to Apple Records on Savile Row in London. There was usually a group of Beatle fans outside, but the sidewalk was deserted on the day that I took this, which meant there were no Beatles inside.

image

FACING PAGE, TOP: I took this picture of Derek Taylor sitting in his white cane chair in the press office of Apple. Notice the Sgt. Derek Taylor desk sign.

image

FACING PAGE, BELOW: My mom came to visit me in the summer of 1969, and I took her to a recording session at Abbey Road Studios where George was producing the Hare Krishna mantra record. one of the Krishnas took this photo of me with George and my mom, barbara.

THIS PAGE, TOP: this picture of George and me appeared in the Dublin Evening Herald in 1969. I’m not sure exactly where it was taken but I assume at Apple. I loved my shag haircut.

image

THIS PAGE, BELOW: After I heard “pisces apple Lady,” the song that Leon wrote for me, we began spending all our time together. I took this picture of him with Denny Cordell's son, Tarka, at Denny’s flat in chelsea.

Richard DiLello took this photo of Pattie’s sister Jenny Boyd, Pattie, and me in front of the fireplace in the Main Hall of Friar Park. I have no idea who the dog belonged to.

One day during the summer before Bangladesh, pattie, Harry Harrison, and I decided to spend a quiet day at the beach. I loved Harry and spent a lot of time with him over the next few years. We asked a stranger to take this photo of us.

image

I took this photo of George in 1970 during my Christmas stay. The kitchen had moved to the room that I slept in my first night at Friar park.

image

I took this picture of Pattie that same night. She always seemed to be in the kitchen. Check out the sign over the stove.

image

ABOVE: Pattie and I wrote to each other often and in one letter she enclosed this photo of her and George in the south garden at friar park.

image

LEFT: Pattie took this photo of George and Don nix, a musician from Memphis, on a boat they chartered to Catalina Island. During this trip Don agreed to help get background singers for the Bangladesh concert.

image

LEFT: This photo of me and Mick Jagger was taken during the Exile On Main Street sessions at Sunset Sound Recorders in spring 1972. I am sure I dialed the number for Mick’s phone call.

image

BELOW: I finally found my place at the back of the Stones plane during the ’72 tour near Mick and Keith. Notice the cigarette hanging out of my mouth and the map of the tour behind me.

image

I don’t remember this photo being taken but it looks like a familiar pose Mick and I would strike when camping around. It was taken during the ’72 tour backstage in a dressing room.

image

This is one of my favorite photos. It was taken backstage in Nashville just before the week break when I decided to leave the tour. I love the way it captures the sweetness of Keith Richards.

image

Ringo and I were in his bedroom at the Santa Monica beach house that John Lennon had rented from Peter Lawford while they recorded Harry Nilsson’s Pussy Cats album.

image

Hilary Gerrard, Ringo’s financial adviser and one of my best friends, was in Japan with Ringo and Nancy Andrews when she took this photo.

image

I took this photo of Carlos during a sound check in Paris on the Santana/Earth, wind & Fire European tour of 1975. Carlos is one of the most considerate musicians I’ve ever worked with.

image

LEFT: Pattie and Eric at their wedding reception in Tucson, Arizona, right before the food fight. I was a bridesmaid, although I chose to sit in the pews, as I was afraid Eric would make some snide remark about me in front of everyone.

image

BELOW: Bob Dylan, Louie Kemp, and Sam Shepard during the Rolling Thunder Revue tour. This was taken on a New England summer day and Bob looks as relaxed as I’d ever seen him. Sam and I were involved during this time.

image

ABOVE: On the Rolling Thunder Revue band bus with band members Rob Stoner (left) and David Mansfield (right) both playing guitars. Ava Megna, who also worked on the tour, is standing next to me and I sadly can’t remember the other two people’s names.

image

LEFT: T-Bone Burnett was a very good friend during that tour and we kidded around a lot. Here we are backstage at one of the Rolling Thunder gigs.

image

ABOVE: My dear friend Neal Preston took this photo of me backstage in Munich at a Queen concert. He had flown over to Europe to photograph Queen and captured this dark moment. Brian May, the lead guitarist in Queen, is behind me with his back turned.

image

LEFT: My cigarette holder is a remnant of my years with Maureen, who used one just like it. The arrogance in my expression belies the pain of alcoholism and drug addiction during these lost years.

image

RIGHT: I spent time with Astrid Lundstrom in the South of France after leaving germany. She and Bill wyman had broken up, and she was packing up all her possessions from their house. It was during this time that I met Anthony, my future husband.

image

BELOW: During the years that I was living in Germany I flew home to see my family. I went to New York first, and May Pang and I decided to drive to Los Angeles, stopping in New Mexico to spend Christmas with my sister and parents.

image

Pattie took this 1983 photo of Maureen in Maureen’s kitchen on the evening we interviewed her for our proposed book. She was divorced from Ringo and not yet married to Isaac Tigrett.

image

Anthony and I decided to get married at his family home, Leeds Castle, on June 21, 1985. My dad, John; my sister, Vicki; and Pattie escorted me to the chapel in the castle. We had to wait until all the tourists had left for the day.

image

We had our reception in a marquee between the Maiden’s tower (anthony’s mother’s home) and the castle. Two hundred people were invited for a sit down dinner and dancing to a live band. Anthony and I are having our first dance.

image

This has to be my favorite picture in the whole world. We were living in Los angeles and we didn’t like the preschool photo taken of three-year-old Will, so the photographer agreed to retake it at a park in Santa Monica. What luck.

image

Ringo came to Tucson in 1992 for the Ringo Starr Invitational Golf tournament at Loews Ventana hotel. We went to visit him and Barbara and I took this picture of him and Will.

Kathy Ketcham took this photo of Will and me in Tucson in 2007. He has become quite a wonderful young man of whom I am very proud.
