as in, we don’t know who or where her dad is

& i guess we could say it isn’t a disease at all
but something to do with luck
as in, there are the lucky, & then there are the unlucky
or i guess we could flash back to the moment her
Romanian mother arrived
at the freak show’s door with her swaddled curse
another immigrant making a sacrifice
thinking: i don’t know why i deserve this daughter
but i know she deserves to live
let the audience fill their heads with the vague things:
it came from love, it came from regret
& don’t we all feel like a freak sometimes?
let the Fat Lady be the bosom she cries into, now
let the Tim Curry be the the ring leader who gives
her shelter. let him be the one she asks one day,
with her paws covering her furry face: why? why am i
