STRAWBERRY LIMEADE

I brake in an instant to go to a tag sale, an estate sale, or an auction. At our wonderful Nashville flea market, I picked up a terrific juicer. It’s the kind with a big handle to crank down and squeeze fresh citrus. Its acquisition has led to many experiments with “ades” of all sorts. This is one of our favorites, a combination of bright strawberry and zingy lime.

Makes about 8 cups

1 CUP SUGAR

1 CUP FRESH LIME JUICE

1 CUP FROZEN SWEETENED STRAWBERRIES, THAWED AND PUREED

LIME WEDGES, FOR GARNISH

1. Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the simple syrup from the heat.

2. Pour the lime juice and pureed strawberries into a half-gallon jar. Add the simple syrup and 4 cups cold water. Stir and chill. Serve with lime wedges.
