DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU—NOT SOMEONE ELSE

In a world full of self-help and advice articles, books, and speakers, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the plethora of do this, not thats. And in some cases, there are universal truths (be kind to others; don’t put yourself down for every little mistake; take care of your mental and physical health). However, every person is different. What works for one person might not work for someone else. Maybe practicing yoga helps your friend release stress, but it makes you feel more stressed. Or forcing yourself into a public speaking situation leads to more feelings of self-doubt or social anxiety, no matter how well the speech might have gone. Do what’s right for you, despite what others might say. You know yourself best—trust that.
