Here we are now

day is in charge of us    week

              is the nastiest warden

over whose head we look

        at each other    often

              with kindness

you’re thinking    work

        year!    long-winded enemy

              death’s timer

your mark is on me    with

        luck you’ll end

              before I do

not too far away I

        blunder among hours

              exhausting the merits

                    of indolence

somehow    the story of life

        is decanted    slowly

              all my life long
