Foreword to the 2012 Edition

When this book was first released in the spring of 1987, Princess Grace of Monaco had been dead less than five years. The book was a major international bestseller, in part because of the enduring interest in Grace Kelly, in part because of the sometimes startling new information I was able to reveal about her private life, thanks to interviews with family members, friends and ex-lovers.

September 2012 will mark the 30th anniversary of Grace’s death, and the public’s interest in her has not waned. She has remained a style icon and a symbol of selfless devotion to family and country. Her troubled personal life, and those of her three children (brought up to date in this edition) adds to the fascination we have with her, and serves as a warning to those who think fairly tales come true.

I hope that this eBook will bring Grace’s riveting story to a new generation of admirers.
