THE SEVEN SIMPLE STRATEGIES OF JUDGE GLENDA HATCHETT’S

Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say!

EXPECT GREATNESS

Teach your kids that greatness is within their grasp. Expect it and it will come; reach for it and it will instill hope, dedication, and purpose.

SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY

Choose your words carefully when you speak to your children, and be consistent in all things at all times.

LISTEN CAREFULLY

Be there in a physical sense as well as emotionally, spiritually, and every other way besides. Don’t simply go through the motions. You can’t ask your kids questions and not listen to their answers.

KEEP YOUR WORD

Your kids need to trust you. If each and every one of us kept to our word in matters big and small, there’d be no such thing as neglect, disappointment, or false hope.

CHEER

At all times, it’s important for our children to hear us cheering them on, to get the message that we’re here for them and pulling for them.

MAKE MONEY MATTER

We must pass on to our children a clear understanding of, familiarity with, and respect for money.

REACH, TEACH, AND PREACH

In one way or another, we must be accountable, and we must teach our children to be accountable, whether to some higher being or to some sense of civic-mindedness or to simply doing the right thing by the right people.

“Our children are watching the messages we are sending to them.”
