Ginny Hanley’s Triple Chocolate Brownies

1 (4-ounce) package chocolate pudding (not instant)

1 (18.25-ounce) package dark chocolate cake mix

1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips

½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 13 × 9-inch baking pan.

Prepare the pudding according to the package directions. In a medium bowl combine the prepared pudding with the cake mix. Beat about 2 minutes.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the mixture, gently pressing the chips into the mixture. If desired, sprinkle the walnuts evenly, pressing in as well. Bake 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Refrigerate in the pan until chilled. Cut before serving.
