⅔ cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
3 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ to ¾ cup Kahlúa
Kahlúa (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
In a microwave-safe dish, heat the chocolate for 30 seconds, or until melted. Drizzle the melted chocolate into the butter mixture. Add the salt, baking powder, and flour. Drizzle the Kahlúa into the batter. Spoon the batter into a 9 × 9-inch baking pan and bake 30 minutes.
Remove the brownies from the oven and, if desired, immediately coat the top with extra Kahlúa using a new small paintbrush.
