1 cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup unsweetened flaked coconut
⅓ cup butter
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 × 9-inch baking pan.
In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, walnuts, and coconut.
In a medium saucepan melt the butter. Remove the pan from the heat and add the sugar and water. Cool the mixture, and then stir in the egg and vanilla. Gradually add to the flour mixture, stirring well. Spread into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
