BROWNIES:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure orange extract
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 × 9-inch pan. Set aside.
For the brownies, in a large bowl stir together the flour and sugar. Add the butter, eggs, orange extract, and orange zest. Beat with an electric mixer until well blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake 30 minutes, or until light golden brown. Remove from the oven and pierce the brownies with a fork.
For the glaze, in a small bowl combine the confectioners’ sugar, orange juice, and orange zest, stirring until smooth. Pour the glaze over the warm brownies. Cool and cut into squares.
