Crockpot Fruit Crisp

6 cups peeled and sliced Gala apples

6 cups peeled and sliced pears

1 cup dried cherries

½ cup sugar

1 tablespoon grated orange peel

2 teapoons cinnamon, divided

Dash of nutmeg

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats (not instant)

¾ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

¼ teaspoon allspice

¾ cup butter, softened

Coat the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray.

In a large bowl mix the apples, pears, dried cherries, sugar, orange peel, 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon, and the nutmeg. Toss well. Pour into the slow cooker. In a medium bowl combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, the remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon, the ginger, and allspice. Crumble the butter into the flour mixture. Mix with your hands until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over the fruit and pat down. Cook, covered, on high 2 to 3 hours, checking for softness every 30 minutes after 2 hours. Serve warm with cream, whipped cream, or ice cream.

Makes 6 to 8 servings
