1½ cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
½ cup (1 stick) butter
½ cup evaporated milk
Pinch of salt
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
½ cup chopped walnuts
In a medium saucepan combine the brown sugar and butter. Bring to a boil. Remove from the stove and stir in the evaporated milk. Return the pan to the stove. Cook, stirring constantly, for 4 minutes over medium-high heat. Remove from the heat. Add the salt, vanilla, confectioners’ sugar, and walnuts. Stir well. Pour the mixture into a buttered 8 × 8-inch pan. Cool and cut into squares.
