2 tablespoons shortening
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup milk
4 cups sliced apples
TOPPING:
6 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
3 tablespoons melted butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 × 9-inch baking pan. Set aside.
In a large bowl cream the shortening, sugar, and eggs. In a medium bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk into the creamed mixture, mixing well. Pour into the prepared pan. Top with the sliced apples.
For the topping, in a small bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Spread over the apples. Bake 30 minutes. Remove from the oven. Serve warm or cool.
