Outro

Dear readers,

Thank you for spending some time with me through the pages of this book. By now, I hope you feel that through sharing my adventures and misadventures you have come to know me well, as you might a familiar friend. I concluded the book with a Coda, set in Andalucia in the late ’90s, which now seems a lifetime ago. Perhaps that is not at all surprising, considering that everything you have just read actually happened in a different century! Yes, in retrospect, those final chords I just referred to were already starting to play the prelude to a very different and unexpected sequence of chapters that were about to write themselves into my unpredictable life.

Who would have thought I would have chosen to divorce my wonderful husband, abandon my luxury life and family in Beverly Hills, and reinvent myself as a singer-songwriter? Who would have thought that I would move seven times on my own, twice exchanging coasts and finally returning to live once again in Canada? Who would have thought that I would have to make the difficult decision to retire from the stage for six years because my passion for the classical guitar had caused me to develop musician’s focal dystonia — a condition due solely to over-practising? And who would have predicted that I would return to the stage, to triumphantly sell out concerts with three different duo partners and produce five new albums of original music? And finally, who could foresee that I would suffer a terrible accident in Florida, requiring me to be airlifted back to Canada, where, following surgery and months of rehab, I would finally recover?

A few years ago, as I divided my time between my condo in Toronto and my winter house in Palm Beach, Florida, I started to write another auto-biography so that I could share my continued adventures with you. This new book, No Remedy for Love, is a little more reflective than this one, as it chronicles my spiritual searchings, my quest for love, and my inner struggles. I hope that through sharing all of this with my readers, I can serve as a role model as someone who never gives up and feels that it is never too late to reinvent oneself. I also hope that through the pages I convey my immense gratitude for all the blessings that have come my way.

No Remedy for Love is being released simultaneously with the republication of this book, and is available in hardcover and as an e-book.

Universal Music Canada is releasing my latest album by the same title. I am sure that you will enjoy listening to the songs that have magically and mysteriously steered my life. After all, it is my music that has sustained me and hopefully will remain long after I have departed. I now know with certainty that it was my destiny to become a songwriter as well as a classical guitarist. Over the years, I feel that my spirit has been happily enriched by some of the extraordinary people I have come to count as friends and by all of life’s amazing twists and turns.

Please keep in touch through my website, www.lionaboyd.com, and the usual social media sites.

With love and gratitude,
