Beer and wine aren’t the only fermented beverages in North Carolina. The state also has a small but quickly growing mead and cider industry. Currently, hard (a.k.a. alcoholic) cider is available at only one spot in North Carolina. But given the growing industry and the long history cider has in the United States, it’s hard to imagine that it will be the only one for long. Mead—traditional honey wine—is new to North Carolina but has been well received. Expect to see new meaderies opening over the next few years around the state.
