About Andrew Schuman
Andrew Schuman, president and CEO of Hammond’s Candies, graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in international relations and economics and continued graduate studies, receiving an MBA in finance from the George Washington School of Business and Public Management.
While attending graduate school, Andrew began working in his family’s business, operating a chain of franchised photo-processing locations under the trade name Motophoto. He became a principal in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan market as an area sub-franchisor. He was actively involved in management, operations and servicing of new and existing franchise locations. Over the fifteen years Andrew was involved in the family business, he engineered the acquisition and sale of more than twenty different companies as part of the regional growth, managing in excess of $25 million in annual sales. Andrew was awarded the President’s Award at the Motophoto International Convention in 2001 for superior performance as a multiple-unit franchisee and for his contributions to the company’s franchise system.
In early 2006, after several challenging years in a changing market, he made the tough decision to divest his interest in the family business and actively seek a new venture that would be equally as challenging and rewarding. In the spring of 2007, Andrew completed the acquisition of Hammond’s Candies. Since the purchase, he has served as president and CEO while presiding over the board of directors.
