That was the feller I seen. I remember him. He was pullin it in a wagon. I remember that cause I ain’t never seen a man pullin a kiddy’s wagon before. We came up on him in the car and I told Hugh to roll down his window. I asked the boy what he had in that wagon there. But yeh could see it plain as day. It was separated in two places, the legs of it stickin out like pieces of timber. Hugh asked him what he was doin with that there mannequin. He tell us somethin, I don’t remember what now. I do remember seein a wood box filled with tools. There was some sandpaper and a brace. We asked him if he needed a ride, told him we could put that wagon and doll in the back, but he just waved us on. Mumbled somethin. He was a queer sort of boy. Only other time I heard his name said was that time that couple was kilt up near the quarry, when the sheriff issued that statement bout him. But that was a long time ago now. I don’t know where he’s at. I don’t know.
