The bones

To find back shu points (see here ), use the following landmarks. To locate cervical vertebra seven (C 7) look for the most prominent vertebra on the base of the neck. Place your finger on its spinous process, and ask your partner to turn their head from side to side. If the vertebra moves slightly, it’s C 7. The one below it, thoracic one (T 1), doesn’t move. BL 11 is level with the lower end of the spinous process of T 1, which feels like a small gap. To locate BL 25, feel for the highest point on the ilium on the lower back – BL 25 is level with this and with the lower end of the spinous process of lumbar vertebra four. BL 26 is in the next space down, just above the sacrum. To find BL 23, slide up two vertebrae and check this by feeling for the lowest ribs. BL 23 is level with these.
